CD INDIA (D') / Madrigaux Ensemble Poïésis

For many years now we have been wending our way through the intimacy of early seventeenth-century Italy, and everything has always led back to a single source: the word. Suddenly a text would impress itself upon us with the authority of a law of nature, in other cases the music would transform a peom by allowing it to speak through the extraordinary alchemy that gives rise to rhythm and sound. For this music cannot exist, cannot be conceived of, without the word. Yet, as Italian is not our native tongue, when listening we are often unaware of the obviousness of the text...Hence our recording project, which was devised to unite these two elements: the word and you, the listener for whom we play. ~ Marion Fourquier, the Poïésis Ensemble.
