CD Soli Ophélie Gaillard

Author of many works, Pierre Bartholomée was for twenty-two years artistic director and resident conductor of the Orchestre Philharmonique de Liège.
Founder, with Henri Pousseur, of the Ensemble Musiques Nouvelles in 1962, he has had personal contacts with Olivier Messiaen, Iannis Xenakis, Luciano Berio, Pierre Boulez, Alfred Schnittke, and created several of their works. His compositions have been performed worldwide by artists such as Jordi Savall, Jose Van Dam, Mireille Delunsch, Ensemble Intercontemporain ...
This disc presents five monographic recent works for solo instruments, performed by musicians followers of Pierre Bartholomée.
"Oraisons" for cello and "Face à Face" for viola were written respectively Ophélie Gaillard and Dominica Eyckmans. "Le Livre d’orgue" (2008) is dedicated to Bernard Foccroulle which is the source of two operas of Pierre Bartholomée for the Theatre Royal de la Monnaie.
