CD Retrouvailles
Retrouvailles – the second album of Nicolas Comment was produced and realised with his partner friend Xavier Waechter – is the confluence of both Nicolas & Xavier's musical universe and the French poetry Bernard Lamarche-Vadel who is the author of those eleven poems initially published in 2000 by Les Editions Unes in a book named "De la douce hystérie des Bilans".
"Retrouvailles" is an album that you will listen as you watch a movie. The typical "spoken world" of Nicolas we can compare to Serge Gainsbourg or Alain Bashung added to the talented minimalist & repetitive musical compositions of Xavier mixed up with the words of Bernard Lamarche-Vadel generate a splendid cinematic atmosphere. The music - a kind of folk electro quite bucolic and quite synthetic - can make us think to Steve Reich or Philip Glass.
The Lyrics are at the same time dark and bright. No matter if you don't understand it cause this is not so fundamental. The point is the musicality of the words. About this Nicolas Comment says: "When I recorded the poems, I use to open the poem book and read it directly in the microphone without seeking to understand the meanings. I was deciphering the lyrics at the same time I was recording. It was so exciting! I was feeling myself as the robber of words snatching it". Retrouvailles is not only a CD album; it’s also a real poem book. The artwork (Digipack de Luxe) contains a 24 pages booklet reproducing the entire Bernard Lamarche-Vadel poems.
